An Update That Coincidentally Was Posted On A Sunday
But not a Sunday Update. I swear.
Hi. I’m Andrew and I run this site. I’ve recently implemented Paul Kuliniewicz’s “Magic” Spam prevention thing. With any luck, this should cut down on the number of spam comments in my moderation queue. However, it may become necessary for you, dear readers, to register an actual account to properly comment on the site from now on. We’ll see how this goes.

The next chapter is hand-written but not yet typed. It’ll be up as soon as I can get it typed tomorrow.

Ha ha look I stole a Stephen King book’s title. My wit is without peer.
As Inigo Montoya would say “Let me explain… No, there is too much. Let me sum up.”
You may have noticed that I haven’t been updating recently. There are several good and several not-as-good reasons for this. But I’m not here to make excuses. Well I sort of am, but I think you know what I mean.
First of all, I’d like to say that there will probably not be any more predictable updates until the new semester starts at Purdue.
Secondly, I’d like to give you a little insight into the why.
The chapters of Aldain that get posted on this site are about halfway between a first draft and a second. Before typing a chapter up, I write it out by hand in a notebook. This is typically done during particularly boring lectures, before class, between classes, while I eat, etc. The one thing that is common to almost all of my writing environments is ambient people. I don’t care for noise, and a small group of people usually will prevent me from writing, but give me a big group of strangers and I’m good to go. Quiet, noisy, somewhere in between–it doesn’t matter. I just need to have people around me–people that I, for the most part, don’t know–in order to write. It’s weird, but that’s the way it is.
When I’m on campus, I can achieve that very easily. When I’m not, or when it’s a time that I’m not on campus a lot, like finals week, I don’t get much writing done. And that, faithful readers, is why I need to be at Purdue to write any more of my serials.
That said, I do have a few exceptions. There may well be times when I have a piece of writing ramble out of my head. In the event of that happening, I’ll post it over at Words of the Drewcifer, my literary clusterfuck of a blog.
Cheers and Happy Holidays,

Finals are still kind of kicking my ass and this 3-day arc is a little harder to write than I expected. I’ll post it and backdate it as soon as it is ready. Sorry to disappoint any potential fans. I know some of you may have just gotten here from Pages Unbound and I hope this doesn’t turn you off of the site too much, but it’s just bad timing.

Sorry for the delay. Monday’s Aldain update will go up along with the scheduled Wednesday one sometime tomorrow. I apologize for the lateness, but it is Finals Week here at good ol’ Purdue University, so I kind of have an excuse. I’ve missed the last two Solomon updates, but Solomon 11 should go up for sure this Sunday. Really. I mean it this time.
Okay bye.

Aldain 16 is written and will be typed and posted rather later tonight. Solomon 11 is almost ready to post and will be backdated for Sunday when it goes up. This is because I like the patterns my posts make on the calendar.
The reason that I’m a little late is that I was rather sick last night. I won’t go into details, but I’ll say that I was in no condition to type.

The End of Sunday Update
I promise I’m not doing this because I’m out of cheesy horror movie titles.
. . .Well not just because I’m out of cheesy horror movie titles, anyway.
Moving on. By now any of you that give 2.5 shits have figured out that I’m not going to be finishing Solomon in time for NaNoWriMo. But that doesn’t mean it’s going away. I’ll be migrating the Solomon posts from the Blogger site to this one. After that I’ll be posting one chapter of Solomon every Sunday until I think it’s finished. Thus, no more Sunday Upates, at least not until Solomon runs its course.
Normal posting of Aldain resumes on Monday. Hopefully I can get Chapter 16 into a working, non-sucky form by that time.
No commentsNaNoWriMo Update
As much as it pains me to do it, I think I’m going to take at least this week off from Aldain while I try to get Solomon rolling and get a “feel” for it. I’m reluctant to say that I’m taking the entire month off from Aldain, however, as that might lose me the few readers I have and cause me to lose steam. I still welcome reader comments and the poll will still be open until next . . .Sunday, I think. Feel free to weigh in your opinion; in fact, please do.

Sunday Forever
Monday’s Aldain update will be in the afternoon and/or evening. I might put regular Aldain updates on hold for this month due to my decision to participate in National Novel Writing Month. I’ve decided to try and pound out the first draft of Solomon. I’ll post chapters as I finish them to the blog I’ve made for NaNoWriMo here. After NaNo, I’ll probably post the second draft to this site, since I do have a Solomon Saga category set up and all.
Whether Aldain sees diminished posting (maybe Tuesdays and Thursdays instead of MWF?) is discontinued for the month, or is kept to the same update schedule as before will depend on what the comments from the readers say. I’m pretty sure I can handle both NaNo and 3 Aldain Chapters a week, but if there’s no demand, I see no reason to.

The Updatening
So how about a word on how the world of the Solomon Saga intersects with the world of Aldain and why they’re both on one website?
Aldain’s world is the same physical Earth as the one that the Solomon Saga occurs on, just later in that universe’s life. In the aether, the multiverse, of Aldain’s story (and, therefore, the Solomon Saga) a realm has magic over the course of its existence. However, for roughly the first half of its being, a universe will be configured as such to only allow more “low magic” effects. As a universe grows older the magical underpinnings it is built on grow more complex. This allows, for roughly the second half of a universe’s existence, the production and use of “high magic” effects.
Yeah. Isn’t that interesting?
Stephen’s unique and flashy powers are a result of the increased complexity of the magic weave of the universe. Individuals experience high-magic abilities long before magicians at large do.
Aldain 13 goes up sometime tomorrow afternoon.
